Online Knowledge Development and Training is Live!!!

Online Learning

Hello again everyone.

It seemed about time to post a short update on the progress with the online training programs I have been working on for a while now.

I began writing these modules in 2019 with the intention of someday compiling and formatting them into a comprehensive knowledge development program which can be completed entirely online. Well, the theory component at least. I do also offer to add a practical endorsement to presentation certificates to verify actual hands on time with your chamber in the same way a diving supervisor can verify logs. This bulk of pages has until now simply been known as “The Yellow Box” chiefly because it has been housed in the same yellow box since 2019 and over the 5 years since has been slowly added to. Of course it contains more than just Physiology.

The Yellow Box and It’s Contents

Ive recently been putting in a lot of extra hours to work through what amounts to close to 1000 pages of original material and incorporate it into manageable modules that don’t take forever to complete but still provide a solid basis of theoretical knowledge to build on and develop. These are structured into bite sized lessons and lesson plans with knowledge reviews and assessments included. Each lesson has a short introductory video explaining the salient points of that lesson. They offer a time and cost saving solution for staff, employers and “one man bands” alike.

These modules start out fairly straight forward and then build as candidates progress. There are currently 3 bundled programs available on a platform hosted by Teachable along with the Health & Safety Forms download which I used to sell as part of the package. They can also be enrolled in separately if needed, as detailed on the links below. These forms provide a basis from which to build a documented health and safety system for hyperbaric units in the wellbeing field as well as clinical disciplines. and include risk assessments, sop’s etc. Of course, I still offer the programs directly as well which can be accessed here.

In the coming months I shall expand on the existing introduction, basic and foundation levels with further modules for intermediate and supervisor levels. These are already written and I’m now busy formatting them to complete a series of programs which will essentially provide a pathway for both home and basic use for supervised staff, or a more professional targeted advanced unsupervised intermediate, and supervisor and manager level pathway.

For me this is a fairly significant step towards something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. That is, creating some kind of standard that non-medical users and providers of HBOT can follow. A kind of bridge between the currently highly polarised disciplines of medical applications and that of complementary therapy and wellness applications. If such a thing is possible.

It’s no secret that the sub 1,5 ata industry is somewhat uncontrolled and no specific code of practice or standard exists. (Although I have written one of these recently as well.) The 2 ata wellness market too has no real guidance for operating procedures and safety. It is my hope that this work can contribute to the development of such a standard in training and knowledge development. A system of voluntary subscription. Not forgetting of course that I also have the buyers guide and its sequel available for free for those looking at acquiring a chamber. This too forms part of the knowledge development base. Get in touch if you want a digital copy.

To mark this milestone I am offering 50% off the bundle of courses entitled “Knowledge Development Package” until the end of December 2024. Simply navigate to the websites page for online distance learning and training and discover more there.

Use the code “Cumbria HBOT 50/50to activate the discount at checkout. The code will expire at midnight December 31 2024. Presentation certificates are only issued on request as I will need details of where to send them.
