Following recent accidents and the tragic consequences of poor training and practice, we put special focus on our training services. Training, training, training and yes…. more training is the only way to safeguard patients or clients especially in the wellness or complementary therapy sector, which can often fall short of accepted best practice in terms of safety. There are far too many cowboy operations and fly-by night businesses not following accepted best practice. For those reasons we are pursuing publishing opportunities in the UK as well as the USA to further promote and encourage proper training and adequate knowledge development.
Those wishing to continue to deal directly with us rather than using the online learning platform on Teachable, you’re in the right place. Payment is directly with us on receipt of invoice for the agreed amount. Digital materials are delivered upon receipt of cleared payment and hard copies are sent out via Royal Mail. International postage is charged at an additional rate depending on your location. Hard Copies are charged at an additional rate which varies depending on which of the 7 volumes you wish to purchase. This is based on what it costs us to have the books printed, bound and delivered. Candidates interested in browsing the online platform click HERE to navigate to the knowledge development page.
Over the past number of years, even before the Cumbria Hyperbaric brand came into being in 2019, we were working on training, knowledge development and operational material to help those in the industry get their organisations off the ground and into the business of helping people. After all, we all do this, among other reasons, for the benefit of others. We strive to be healers first, and health and safety officers second. Or certainly I do. Over the years, our principal, Hayden, who is a contracted subject matter expert (SME), has spent a major part of his career involved in health and safety as well as setting up of departments and businesses. This includes knowledge development in the chosen subject as well as practical day to day tips and suggestions that help in the smooth start-up and management of a new service.
With this in mind, we have put together a series of knowledge development material, or training “courses” if you prefer, for those who have perhaps just bought a chamber, or those who have just joined an existing organisation and wish to be brought up to speed on a range of topics likely to come up, and even those who have been operating for a while who wish to review their operating material and knowledge base. Annual review is always seen as pro-active and refreshers are common in this line of work.
Equally, if you are considering buying a chamber, you would benefit greatly from learning before spending, since many sellers of hyperbaric chambers fall short of proper build standards and construction standards. We also offer 2 buyers guides for free. Get in touch if you would like a copy by contacting us
The Introduction & Overview is just that. A comprehensive introduction to concepts and subject associated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The Basic Wellness Operator module is designed for employers to adequately prepare new staff for their role. The foundation level builds on this level and the Basic Level is intended for new staff or volunteers as an introduction to the field to enable them work in a supervised capacity while they develop further.
The Foundation Level Operator material offers learners the opportunity to ease into a fairly wide range of topics that are useful in day to day operations. These range from legal considerations through health and safety, as well as knowledge development of the therapy itself.
The Intermediate Level Module for Wellness and Other Applications is intended to provide candidates and prospective hyperbaric unit personnel with a solid intermediate theoretical, as well as practical knowledge of hyperbaric chamber operations in a clinical, medical or wellness practice, or commercial environment.
Those undertaking this module should already have read and completed at the very least, the foundation level module, and may now proceed with the intermediate. It is recommended that learners also complete the introduction & overview as well as basic level modules. Attempting this module without first completing the aforementioned modules may prove challenging in some regards.
For registration for the Intermediate program candidates must complete the pre requisite modules first. If you wish to enter at this level on the basis of recognition of prior learning, thats is a crossover recognition, please feel free to discuss this with us.
The Supervisor Level Program for Wellness and Other Applications is also now available for enrolment either on the online platform or directly with us. It includes lessons covering; staffing and staff structures, record keeping and data protection, international organisations, health and safety legislation, health and safety practice, patient and client pathways, treatment tables, health and safety forms (also available as a standalone download), Buying a chamber and what you need to know before investing in potentially un-proven equipment (also available as a standalone download), a selection of articles, and ideas for training and development.
Remote Service

The online version of the knowledge development material is now available on Teachable and is the easiest and preferred method of delivering the work, however we are equally happy to work direct with PDF documents and hardcopies. The online platform can be accessed directly on Teachable by clicking HERE, or by navigation to the Distance Learning and Training Page.
Currently the knowledge development program is a theory based program that can be completed entirely remotely with one on one video calling and lessons if required. If learners wish, this can be followed up with in person contact time to demonstrate practical techniques, allow for hands on training and facilitate operations review, and safety procedures with your chamber. This would earn a practical endorsement. It works best if candidates work through the material identifying areas they wish to cover with a facilitator in order tor reduce contact time and the associated costs.
Digital delivery is usually immediate upon receipt of cleared payment followed by bound hard copies via Royal Mail of the working material at an additional cost. Depending on what modules you choose to enrol in, the material includes:
- A peer reviewed, 113 page, referenced introduction and overview of HBOT, authored in 2018. It is included because it contains in text referencing and shows source material throughout. There is a certain amount of crossover between this and the knowledge development sections. This was favourably reviewed by Professor Shai Efrati of the Sagol institute and Sackler School of Medicine in 2018.
- Ab 125 page basic operator module detailing basic operator topics and methods. These first 2 modules make up the home user pathway.
- A 288 page foundation level knowledge development section building on previous modules as the beginning of the professional pathway. The first 3 modules make up the hime user plus pathway.
- A 578 page intermediate level module which too build on previous modules. In printed form, this nodule is presented in 2 volumes. Modules 3, 4 and 5 make up the professional pathway. This is presented in 2 volumes when printed.
- A 539 Page supervisor level module which details practical ideas for managing a clinical type business offering HBOT as a wellness or medical service. Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 make up the professional pus pathway and includes all modules. This is presented in 2 volumes when printed.
- We still offer the 70 page standalone module of annexures which includes health and safety forms, standard operating procedures, risk assessments and other groundwork for populating your own health and safety policy. however this material is also included in the supervisor module
- The full package consists of 7 volumes in all with the standalone health and safety material making up an 8th volume. All in all around 1500 pages of highly relevant material..
All levels include knowledge reviews throughout the work as well as final assessments which can be completed, removed from the manuals and sent to us for validation and certification. Using the online system automates the knowledge review system and provides for quicker turnaround and issuing of certificates and presentation certificates.
Refernces are presented throughout and source material is listed at the end of each module where required.
Please get in touch if you would like to see the tables of contents and discuss previewing course content prior to investing in the material. We will be only too happy to assist. It is important to us that candidates are happy with their investment throughout the process.
You have done a significant impressive work. – Prof. Shai Efrati – 2018
Ongoing Support
We offer continued support. Existing clients are still welcome to, and still do, call in for a quick Q&A up to, and even over a year on. We’re about building enduring relationships with our clients to facilitate ongoing trouble free operations. However we find that once a candidate has completed the full program, they are very well equipped to answer almost any query that may arise.
The facilitator, Hayden, is well versed with the regulators in the UK and further afield in Ireland and Europe, and even as far away as the USA. He specialises in complimentary therapy HBOT however, with his formal training in the commercial, technical and recreational diving field, is equally as well versed in the regulation of medical HBOT services and applications captured by the scope of relevant regulating bodies.

My journey with HBOT has been a voyage of discovery with an old however strangely also a new effective way to improve peoples health. Hayden of Cumbria Hyperbaric was very patient getting me up to speed with all the bells and whistles of my new Monoplace chamber. Hayden has been at the end of the phone and he gave us confidence that we were providing an effective therapy to clients. Feedback from clients over the last 15 months has been very gratifying and completely vindicated my dive into the world of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
